Terence Kemp McKenna’s Short Bio
There are really just two people in the UFOLOGY field of interest who I follow closely and analyze everything they say. 1.) Terence McKenna and 2.) Jaques Vallee. Their views are similar regarding some things, but Terence McKenna comes from a level, a world view, even more widely focused than Dr. Vallee.
Luckily, we’ve been given this amazing video showing Dr. McKenna’s views on the UFO phenomenon I’ve embedded at the bottom of this page. This is a must-watch video for anyone interested in the UFO Phenomenon.
Terence McKenna (November 16, 1946 – April 3, 2000) was a prolific speaker about many topics related to the mind.
He often spoke to groups about psychedelic drug use and experience, plant-based entheogens, shamanism in practice around the world, metaphysics, alchemy, the use of language, cultural understanding and development, technology, and the theoretical origins of human consciousness. Literally, everything that matters!
A vocal proponent of daily cannabis use and moderated psychedelic use, McKenna revealed that one of his first important experiences was with morning glory seeds. He knew there was ‘something there worth pursuing.’ This seemed to set him on a path for exploring the conscious and unconscious mind
At 25 years old in 1971, McKenna, his brother Dennis, and 3 friends made a trip down to the Colombian Amazon in search of plants with DMT (dimethyltryptamine).
There, they found a number of forms of ayahuasca, or yagé, and fields full of gigantic Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms, which quickly became the focus of the expedition.
Terence McKenna encouraged the exploration of altered states of consciousness by ingesting naturally occurring psychedelic substances like mushrooms.
During his research, McKenna came up with a productive technique for cultivating psilocybin mushrooms with his brother. In 1976 they published the book, “Psilocybin: Magic Mushroom Grower’s Guide.’ They used pseudonyms ‘OT Oss’ and ‘ON Oeric’ to publish the book, and currently Kathleen Harrison McKenna owns the copyright to the book you can find below. Buy it if you’re interested.
In the early 1980s, McKenna spoke openly about the use of psychedelics. He became extremely well-known during this era, with Timothy Leary introducing him as “one of the five or six most important people on the planet.” McKenna’s knowledge on varied topics was far-reaching. It’s fascinating just to sit and listen to him speak about ANY topic.
Some of Terence McKenna’s most riveting talks were about:
- extraterrestrials, UFOs, Alien contact
- shamanism
- metaphysics
- alchemy
- language
- culture
- self-empowerment
- techno-paganism
- artificial intelligence
- evolution
- science
- the internet
- virtual reality
In the middle of 1999, Terence traveled back to Hawaii’s Big Island where he had a home. His migraine headaches had become worse. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. McKenna died a short time later on April 3, 2000, at the age of 53.
The video below (or here) encapsulates McKenna’s views on the alien visitation, the alien existence and where he believes it comes from. His views are similar to Jacques Vallee.
During the video, you can hear him mention Jacques Vallee a number of times, as they were both at the same venue with presentations at this time. It appears they were both thinking along similar lines with regards to the phenomena, in many ways.
Understanding UFOs Video – Terence McKenna
In the video above, please pay particular attention to this part at 7:09, where he talks about Jacques Vallee’s ideas, and especially the EFFECT UFOs are having on us.
